RaspBerry Pi Distributions

Finally I found some time to play with my brand new RaspBerry Pi. But which distro should I use? And what the heck is a RaspBerry Pi?

The RaspBerry Pi is a credit-card sized computer, running on a ARM (11) based processor, running at 700mhz and has 256MB RAM. An Ethernet connection for network/internet capability, two USB 2.0 slots, HDMI and SD-card slot. There are different distros available, here is a quick overview.

Official downloads:
Debian “squeeze” (If you’re just starting out, this is the image we recommend you use), Arch Linux ARM (simplicity and full control to the end user), QtonPi (optimized for developing and running Qt 5 Apps on Raspberry Pi)
